Plan to stay in the picture-postcard Suffolk seaside village of Walberswick and base yourselves at this New England-style retreat. Sleeping four guests, it offers bright, airy accommodation, plus an enclosed lawned garden. Just 350 metres from the former fishing village’s beach, where you can swim, paddle and picnic, it is also within reach of gastro pubs, shops and a tea room, plus the rowing boat ferry across to Southwold Harbour. From the harbour, you can stroll under 1 mile up to the centre of Southwold, with its shops and eateries.
Make your way into the gorgeous holiday home to find it has a semi-reverse-level design, with a double bedroom at ground-floor level. This beautiful room has French doors on to the courtyard. Also downstairs is a family bathroom and a utility cupboard, plus the spacious, light-filled kitchen/diner where you can prepare the fresh Suffolk produce you have bought and pull up a chair to eat together. Climb the stairs to another double bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room, and the lounge. This striking space has a vaulted ceiling, window seat for watching the world go by and Smart TV. You can also choose books and games from the shelves in here or catch up on your work over at the desk. Watch the children play out on the grass in the small garden and have your meals out on the patio during the summer months. There is parking for one car here.
Plan day trips out along the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Historic Dunwich, once a busy medieval port but long since disappeared under the waves, is 6 miles away and has a beautiful beach and picturesque heath. Covehithe, with its small church within the ruins of a larger church, is 11 miles away and also a scenic, coastal spot.
