Charming and quaint to the core, this Grade II-listed former barn deep in rural Suffolk is the ultimate romantic retreat perfect for couples craving an escape to the countryside. Enjoy memorable days exploring the surrounding hills and walking trails, and afterwards return home for a peaceful evening tipple in the pretty garden.

Kick off your walking boots in the lobby area before heading into the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner at the heart of this home-from-home. Retaining many original features including exposed beams and brickwork, this social space blends rustic charm with contemporary touches, creating a peaceful ambience that beckons tired travellers to relax, cook and dine; the wood burner-effect electric fire sets the scene for pure relaxation. Wash off a long day in the elegant bathroom before retiring to the tranquil double bedroom which shares the same charm and character as the rest of this bolthole. The small front garden and enclosed rear garden provide a delightful area to soak up some sunshine and enjoy a spot of al fresco dining. Guests will also benefit from private parking for two cars.

The sleepy village of Finningham – nestled at the heart of the Suffolk countryside – is a playground for keen outdoor explorers, boasting scenic country lanes that await to be explored on foot or by bike. Home to the Museum of East Anglian Life, the bustling market town of Stowmarket (7.5 miles) is steeped in history and hosts a bi-weekly market that showcases some of the best local produce this area has to offer. Take a walk through this area’s rich past at Framlingham Castle (17.5 miles), a magnificent 12th-century fortress surrounded by parkland and a picturesque lake, before perusing Framlingham’s excellent selection of independent shops and cafes.

A beautifully appointed barn conversion in the middle of the Suffolk countryside. The accommodation was very clean and fresh, with everything we needed. We had a lovely relaxing break here. A shame we had to come home!

We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing time at 'Freyers', a well equipped barn conversion, and more than adequate for a couple. The addition of a new private decked area behind the property is a real suntrap, an ideal place to enjoy that cool beer or glass of wine. We enjoyed the local area with visits to the coast, also had excellent mobile fish anRead mored chips on Tuesday evening. Nice local cafe/gifts EmZo 1/3 mile away at Cotton, good bacon sandwiches, coffee and snacks. Thanks to great Hosts too. Hide

What a lovely, cosy and super clean cottage. Perfect for a couple to use as a base and we loved our stay. It has everything you need and has been well thought out, the decorations are very stylish and we just wish the weather had been a little better for us to sit outside in the garden. All in all, we would thoroughly recommend a stay at Freyers CoRead morettage. Hide

What a fabulous find this little cottage was. It was immaculate, thoughtfully and tastefully furnished, oodles of hot water and a great shower.
