2017 - Another great year for holiday letting
2016 was dubbed ‘the year of the staycation’ and in the holiday letting industry this was reflected in an increase in bookings and the overall demand for self-catering holiday homes. Safety concerns and the cost of holidays abroad were big factors, and the recent shakeup of our EU status has certainly contributed, with a decrease in the value of the pound. So is this going to continue? Are holiday lets still an attractive investment?
The Answer is: YES
According to The Caterer, “More Britons plan to take their main holiday in the UK in 2017 than did so in 2016” which is fantastic news not just for the holiday letting industry, but also the tourism industry as a whole. Here at Suffolk Secrets we are passionate about supporting tourism and have played a major part in helping Suffolk build its profile as one of the most desirable locations in the UK holiday market.
So what about ‘Brexit’?
Letting Agent Today recently published an article based on the topic of the UK leaving the European Union; it stated claims that furnished holiday lets are generating double the annual income of residential lets with the first four months of 2017 seeing a boom in the industry.
It’s easy to see why; the concerns Britons had in 2016 are still having an effect and the week pound means the UK is attractive to overseas visitors.
Where can I get advice?
Here at Suffolk Secrets we work with many purchasers who have never owned a holiday let before. For those who have already found a property, we can suggest approximate income and occupancy, even if the property is not currently letting. For those who are yet to find a property we offer free advice on what to look for and how holiday letting works and what we can offer them as an agent; we also suggest properties they may be interested in and update our Holiday Homes for Sale page.
All of our advice is free and with no obligation to let with us. We would love to hear from you so please do not hesitate to get in contact by Requesting an Owner Pack, emailing us on email@example.com or calling us on 01502 722717.
In summary, UK holiday homes are a great investment for both personal holidays and generating income and with all this wonderful weather we have had so far in 2017, who would want to leave?!
