2017 - Another great year for holiday letting
2016 was dubbed ‘the year of the staycation’ and in the holiday letting industry this was reflected in an increase in bookings and the overall demand for self-catering holiday homes. Safety concerns and the cost of holidays abroad were big factors, and the recent shakeup of our EU status has certainly contributed, with a decrease in the value of the pound. So is this going to continue? Are holiday lets still an attractive investment?
The Answer is: YES
According to The Caterer, “More Britons plan to take their main holiday in the UK in 2017 than did so in 2016” which is fantastic news not just for the holiday letting industry, but also the tourism industry as a whole. So what about ‘Brexit’?
Letting Agent Today recently published an article based on the topic of the UK leaving the European Union; it stated claims that furnished holiday lets are generating double the annual income of residential lets with the first four months of 2017 seeing a boom in the industry.
It’s easy to see why; the concerns Britons had in 2016 are still having an effect and the week pound means the UK is attractive to overseas visitors.
