This beautiful cottage, close to Thorpeness beach, is perfect for friends, family, or a couple (plus their canine companion) with two bedrooms with en-suites, a pretty garden, and stunning living areas. It’s in the ideal spot for walking, cycling, playing golf and tennis, and simply relaxing.
The house has Thorpeness’s iconic black wood cladding outside, inside it’s contemporary with classic styling, gorgeous furniture, and charming nautical touches. The ground floor houses a spacious, light living room with comfy couches to chill out on and watch TV. Your pup will love dozing next to the wood burner on chilly evenings, and there are bi-fold doors to the garden for warm ones. You’ll find everything you need to cook delicious meals in the well-appointed kitchen and bi-folds outside. Enjoy sociable meals in the dining room; there’s also a handy downstairs cloakroom. The bedrooms are upstairs. Lie in bed and watch TV in the stunning king-size room, which has an en-suite bathroom, sleep well in the pretty twin (or super-king), which has an en-suite shower room. Spend lazy days soaking up the sun, enjoying drinks and BBQs in the pretty courtyard garden.
Thorpeness was built as a holiday resort in 1912 and is just as charming now as it was back then. Head to the famous Meare rowing lake where the islands are based on Peter Pan, with castles and Wendy houses, then grab an ice cream at the tea room next door. Head out on a 6.5-mile circular walk to Aldeburgh along the coast and come back through the countryside, passing the 4-metre-tall scallop sculpture on Aldeburgh beach. Play a round of golf then enjoy a slap-up dinner at the golf club (0.5 miles) and a relaxing pint in the village pub’s beer garden.
