Surrounded by the coastline, Thorpeness is a wonderful destination in which to stay when visiting Suffolk, and 3 The Dormy is right in the thick of it. With the beach, just a few steps away, and Thorpeness mere only a short walk from the property, guests will have several outing opportunities on their doorstep. Aldeburgh is a short seven-minute drive, or two miles walk away where many shops, restaurants, pubs and a cinema can be discovered. 

What really stands out in the holiday home is the west facing balcony that overlooks the Thorpeness Country Club’s tennis courts. Not only do guests of 3 The Dormy receive free access to the courts, but it creates a wonderful backdrop to the outdoor area where families or small groups can enjoy dining al fresco as they watch the world go by. Walk from the balcony and through the French doors and you’ll be greeted by the holiday homes living area. An open planned dining room and lounge is the perfect place for guests to relax and enjoy time together. A large TV, DVD player, book shelf and CD player along with a great selection of DVDs provide entertainment, handy for days when that pesky unpredictable English weather creeps up on your holiday. Self-catering has never been easier with 3 The Dormy’s fully equipped kitchen, and with the properties dining room, home cooked meals can be enjoyed as guests mingle over their food and drinks. 

The master bedroom has the added bonus of an en-suite bathroom, along with the family bathroom, this results in plenty of bathroom space for guests. Just a mile north of Aldeburgh is this fascinating seaside village, built in the 1920s by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie, an architect, barrister and playwright. The mock Tudor style of the building is now the hallmark of Thorpeness, where the amenities include the Dolphin Inn, the Thorpeness Hotel with its 18-hole golf club, a country club with tennis courts and the Meare - a large shallow boating lake with tearooms nearby. The beaches are mainly sandy and behind the village is a myriad of footpaths over heath and common land.
