Situated between Aldeburgh and Orford - one of the most beautiful and rural parts of the Suffolk coast - Marshland Estate Barn has something to offer everyone. Located in private grounds peppered with 500 year-old oak trees and backing onto Captain's Wood - a wildlife reserve teeming with deer and bird life - this is a nature lover's paradise. The walking is fantastic with an extensive network of paths, and both the road and mountain biker is spoilt for choice. The Alde River is a mile away along a bridleway and this caters for a range of water sports including sailing, canoeing and fishing. Horse riding, golf and tennis are available within a short drive.
The cultural and culinary opportunities are also outstanding. Snape Maltings, a world class concert hall and home to the Aldeburgh Festival, is five minutes' drive away. Various literary events take place there and it offers an exclusive gift shopping opportunity. In the nearby fishing village of Orford, home to an historic castle, there is the truly exceptional Pump Street Bakery, the classic Butley Oysterage, and Pinney's Smoke House as well as Britain's best local store and cafe. There are also numerous cosy and atmospheric country pubs and restaurants in the vicinity serving lovely food and of course there is the delicious local beer! For those who like cooking at home, the quality and range of local produce - including seafood bought directly from fishermen - is exceptional. The popular seaside sailing town of Aldeburgh is a 20 minute drive away, offering a marvellous beach, a variety of quirky shops and art galleries, a cinema, and restaurants, not to mention the renowned fish and chips. Woodbridge is a 30 minute drive away and for those who are interested in history, nearby Sutton Hoo, is one of the greatest Saxon archaeological finds of all time.

Lovely property in stunning location.
Booked this break through Suffolk Secrets as we had used them in the past.Very happy with the service and properties just as described. Marshland Barn was lovely, in a beautiful part of the country. Property was near Orford which is a pretty little village and the food in the pub, The Kings head I think, was of a very high standard and very dog friendly.
An absolutely stunning cottage set in a beautiful part of Suffolk. Lovely grounds to walk the dog in. Captain's Wood access and walk brilliant! - very peaceful setting with a herd of fallow deer.
Thoroughly lovely location, perfect for country lovers. Friendly owner.
A superb property, fully justifying its Gold Award.
Enjoyed our stay in great location, beautiful surroundings and constant wildlife to watch and easy access to Captains Wood.
