Property code: OC-CRF

A chocolate box country cottage surrounded by a fragrant flower garden. Set in the sleepy village of Blaxhall, this peaceful retreat is ideal for a family getaway or friends’ reunion with a couple of four-pawed pals in tow. Venture coast-side to stock up on fresh seafood and deli nibbles from the Aldeburgh Market (8 miles), then stretch out on the sun-dappled patio to indulge in an al fresco supper.

This homely property features a traditional interior with exposed wooden beams, soft muted tones, and sociable open-plan living. In cooler months, slip off shoes at the door before being lulled into the lounge by the crackling wood burner. Sink onto the sofas for a blether beneath the vaulted ceiling or throw open the patio to embrace balmy summer evenings. Pad into the spacious shaker kitchen area and prepare some aperitifs or whip up an evening feast for the hungry pack. With the scent of dinner drifting in the air, adorn the wooden table with a tempting spread or step outside to dine on the patio. Rest up in your choice of three elegant bedrooms, consisting of an airy twin and two bright doubles – one of which boasts private garden access. Four-pawed family members can roam free on the enclosed lawn while you sip a morning coffee hidden on the leafy garden bench.

Peruse an art display at the heritage site of Snape Maltings (1.5 miles) or enjoy stone-baked pizzas and live music at one of the themed tipi events. History buffs will delight in a visit to the immersive Parnham Airfield Museum (5 miles) while the leisure-seekers sample fine wine and meze plates on a waterfront terrace in Aldeburgh (7.5 miles).

Had a very nice stay here for a week - 4 adults, 2 children & 2 dogs. Its in a quiet, secluded location within a small village and is great for country walks and theres a lovely traditional pub within a couple of minutes walk too. No local grocery shops but Saxmundham is a very short drive away with Tesco, Waitrose and an amazing butchers in the hiRead moregh street. Snape Maltings is also only a few minutes drive away, and we were able to visit a lot of other Suffolk attractions from here without travelling for more than 30 minutes. Hide

Everything was lovely at crofters but we did have a problem with the dishwasher which we never managed to get to work. A couple of light bulbs had blown in the lamps. The garden is lovely but not totally dog proof. Unfortunately our dog did get through and into the allotment which was difficult to access. I would suggest that guests are made aware Read moreof this. We had a very pleasant stay thank you Hide
