Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends.

Reviews

Thank you- enjoyed my stay here greatly, as much as previous one in July 2021- a lovely little cottage. Loved the treats too!

Previous Customer,

Another enjoyable stay- this time perfect weather! Everything maintained to very high standard. Thanks for welcome pack.

Jenny & R,

Lovely stay- perfect location. Everything we needed. Thank you.

Royce Family,

Thanks so much for a lovely stay. The cooler May weather did not alter the full enjoyment of the area with a cosy cottage to come back to. Thank you for the milk we love that there was teabags, biscuits & Eliza loved the chocolate. These things make a difference!

Past Customer,

A lovely comfortable, welcoming cottage. Very well equipped and so well situated. When we will return to Aldeburgh, we hope it will be to Top Step Cottage.

Past Customer,

Clean, well equipped cottage. More emphasize needed on the difficult access to the cottage whilst loading and unloading, due to the many steps. Top garden lovely, courtyard disappointment due to drains!! Many thanks for the treats left

Past Customer,

Top Step is a delightful cottage and ideal location close to all amenities. This has been our third visit and will not be our last. Thoroughly recommend a stay.

Mrs J,

My partner and my son had a lovely stay at top step cottage. Plenty of off street parking nearby and a 30 second walk to the main High Street and beach, would definitely stay here again

Mrs M,

Perfect location for Aldeburgh’s lovely beach and high street. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful cottage. Excellent location, within easy walking distance for all that Aldeburgh has to offer. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. We will definitely be returning!

Mrs B,

This newly updated little cottage is perfectly placed for a seaside holiday. With easy access to the beach and shops, It is also conveniently placed 1 minute from an excellent fish and chip shop!

Previous Customer,

We had a wonderful stay at Top Step Cottage. It is ideally situated for the town itself, the beach and also for getting to other areas. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and was perfect for our needs. The cottage garden was an added bonus and nice to sit in. Would be happy to recommend to family and friends, and would certainly return next year.

Mr S,

Great position, quiet but one minute from the High St. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped cottage. Owners kindly left welcome gifts of fruit juice, biscuits etc as well as rapeseed oil for cooking and other essentials. Small yard for pets Bathroom and loo downstairs from bedrooms which was ok for us but should be noted Overall would thoroughly recommend this property

Mrs W,

Top Step cottage is ideally situated, being just off the main street in Aldeburgh. It is small but comfortable and met our needs for the week.

Ms H,

A comfortable, well equipped cottage in a location near to the sea and shops. Great chip shop at the end of the road!

Mrs R,

Lovely cottage right on top of the little town and sea front. We will definitely be coming back for another visit.

Mrs E,

When booking this holiday break we were in the middle of Covid with all the uncertainties about taking a break. However the reassurances we were given by a very helpful member of staff gave us the confidence to go ahead and make our booking which we were pleased to do and thankful that we did. This property has been changed greatly since our last use of it four years ago. It has been upgraded and beautifully decorated and furnished with every comfort and much thought . The property is in the Centre of Aldeburgh just off the square with all amenities nearby. A tasteful small garden with seating area is provided off The Terrace overlooking the property.

Mr H,

Lovely Cottage in a great location, just up from the High Street.Very cosy and everything you need for your stay.Would definitely stay again.

Miss A,

What a treat. A cosy and well appointed cottage in the heart of the town. Shops, bars, restaurants and the beach were all only a minute away. Lots of lovely walks right from the doorstep. Would definitely recommend.

Mrs S,

We had a lovely short break in Top Step Cottage. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and the location was great. Thank you!
