With its brick facade and stylish interior, this period terraced home 200 metres from the beach in Aldeburgh offers a stylish spot for a relaxing seaside break. This quintessentially British seaside town is located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it a perfect springboard for scenic walks through the wildlife-rich marshland of the River Alde estuary. With one double and one single bedroom, this sweet retreat is ideal for a couple with one child, or a small group of friends.

Traditional touches like mullioned windows and vintage-style furniture add appeal to this traditional cottage. You’ll enter into a bright and airy lounge that’s perfect for relaxing with some TV in the evenings. A door from here leads through to the homely dining room, furnished with a wooden table and chairs for leisurely meals. The modern kitchen is reached via an archway. A staircase from the dining area leads to the two bedrooms upstairs, as well as a bright family bathroom. The rear patio, complete with a bench, table and chairs, offers a tranquil spot for basking in the sun’s warmth and tucking into al fresco meals.

There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area, whether that’s wandering around the shops in Aldeburgh’s quaint high street or indulging in some local history at the Red House (1.5 miles). Water lovers can go sailing or yachting in nearby Slaughden (0.5 miles), while birdwatchers will love getting some good use out of those binoculars at RSPB Minsmere (9 miles). Keen to explore the area on foot? For a gentle stroll, set off along Aldeburgh’s shingle beach, then climb up onto the cliffs towards Thorpeness, 2.5 miles to the north. The ancient woodland at Captain’s Wood (10.5 miles) is a great spot for losing yourself in nature.

When we arrived at the property after our 4-hour journey, it was a little disappointing to find that the bed had not been made up and there were several piles of used towels in the kitchen and in the back bedroom. It was as if the job had been interrupted. This was all the more disappointing, given the strongly worded email/text message received Read morebefore our arrival, to the effect that we must not arrive at the property before 4:00pm. However, we decided to swing with it, as we felt this was something that could/would be sorted before too long. What was more disappointing however was the response we received when we phoned the Suffolk Secrets phone number. Neither of the two people we spoke to was able to give a firm indication of when the situation would be rectified, simply falling back on the not very re-assuring "as soon as possible" formula. Particularly disappointing was the reply from your representative during my first call who said she would arranged for the property care people to call me directly. I then had to explain quite forcibly that I expected them to contact Suffolk Secrets and Suffolk Secrets to contact me, as I was Suffolk Secrets' client and not a client of the property care firm you use. I think this might have been due to inexperience of the young lady I spoke with - so, clearly a training matter here. It was re-assuring, however, to receive a text message within minutes of my second call to your office telling me that somebody was on their way to finish off the job. In the event, the bed was made up and used linen removed, and we had a lovely break in a lovely part of the country. Hide

The property was comfortable and an excellent location. Plumbing is a bit weird on the washbasin in the bathroom and the shrubs in the garden could do with a bit of a trim. On the whole though we loved it.

We enjoyed our stay at 8 Park Roadand would definitely return there, hence the high scores. However, 3 important issues: 1) When we removed the pillow cases and protectors for washing at the end of our stay, we were dismayed to find that three of the four pillows were badly stained. 2) Bathroom: The bin had not been emptied. No bath mat. 3) GardeRead moren: Needs at least a minimum of attentioneg. I had to cut back the overgrown honeysuckle before we were able to use the garden bench. Hide
