Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends. Aldeburgh is also home to one of the oldest golf clubs in Suffolk and has the added benefit of two courses which is perfect for visitors of the local area.

Immaculate presentation and super clean. Very warm and cosy even without lighting the wood burner! Great location.

Mrs H,

Fawcett Cottage is just wonderful. Full of style, character and well equipped and comfortable. The location is perfect to allow you to make the most of this beautiful, unique town. Situated close to the Town Steps and The Terrace where you can watch the sun rise and soak up the moon light. Gorgeous.

Mrs P,

Fawcett Cottage is situated on a quiet road of Victorian cottages in Aldeburgh. It was contemporarily decorated, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It's a short walk to the High Street and the sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and hope to be back some time in the future.
