Aldeburgh is situated at the heart of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The river Alde, popular with sailors, winds its way to Orford down- stream and up-stream to Snape Maltings, home of the internationally famous Aldeburgh Music Festival. Thorpeness, just a couple of miles north along the beach, has its own special seaside character. In Aldeburgh fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from their picturesque huts. The high street has a classy air with mostly independent shops mixed in with a nice variety of eating places. There are also several good hotels overlooking the sea, ideal for a leisurely lunch or evening meal. Opposite our Aldeburgh office is an interesting old and very well equipped cinema which shows the latest films and occasional festivals eg the highly regarded annual Aldeburgh Documentary Film Festival. There is always lots to do in Aldeburgh while a radius of 10 miles inland will bring you to the fabulous natural riches of the East Anglian countryside and coastal area - and plenty of excellent pubs.
