At a glance

  • A characterful, double-fronted cottage with its traditional flint facade
  • Make family memories in the fabulously large (and very rare for the location) garden and patio screened by hedges and trees for privacy
  • Relax with a book or dine in the conservatory. Explore all Aldeburgh has to offer right on the doorstep
Property code: OC-AL123

Sleeping eight guests across four restful bedrooms, this double-fronted home is a spacious retreat, perfect for group getaways. It is conveniently situated in Aldeburgh's High Street, only a 200-metre stroll from the beach. When you return from a day on the sand, you can chill out in the sunny conservatory or make the most of the large garden with its sweeping lawn and handy BBQ.

Upon entry, guests are welcomed into the cosy lounge with comfortable seating and French doors leading to a light-filled conservatory with a table for eight. Prepare a feast in the sizeable kitchen and enjoy a meal in the atmospheric dining room with its wood flooring and period doors or dine al fresco on the garden patio. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. When night falls, take the stairs to the four bedrooms located upstairs: two doubles and two twins. With light decor, sloping ceilings, and stylish furniture, each bedroom is incredibly inviting – and one of the twins is accessed via a separate set of stairs. They share an additional bathroom with a bath, separate shower and WC. When the sun is shining, enjoy some downtime on the patio outside, complete with garden furniture and a BBQ or take a wander around the large, lawned garden.

Within half a mile of the house, you can explore the independent shops and galleries of Aldeburgh and visit the Moot Hall. Built in the 16th century, the Moot Hall now houses Aldeburgh's Museum. Take a stroll down the shingle beach, admiring Sir Benjamin Britten’s Scallop Sculpture, dedicated in 2003. Delicious fish and chips can be enjoyed in town, too. If you're looking to explore further afield, the House in the Clouds in Thorpeness is 2.5 miles away, and both the Parham Airfield Museum and the Bentwaters Cold War Museum are just 11 miles away.

  • 4 bedrooms – 2 double, 2 twin (one of which has separate staircase access from lobby downstairs)

Very pretty from the outside but a confused and itty-bitty layout inside with a succession of very small rooms. Great location and lovely views over country to the rear. Big lawned garden.

The living room photo on your website is very deceptive. Looks bigger than it actually is. We would have struggled for 8 adults to have spent an evening in there had the weather not been so good. Also, considering the property is for 8 people we could have done with more than one large cooking pot! Overall though the cottage was lovely and we woulRead mored be very happy to return. Hide

A delightful house in a great location, in one of the few areas in Aldeburgh where street parking is possible: 4 comfy bedrooms & the most wonderful garden as a bonus. We love it.
