Aldeburgh Carnival 2017
From Saturday the 19th to Monday the 21st of August, the streets of Aldeburgh buzz as the Aldeburgh Carnival takes place once again in the beautiful, traditionally British seaside town. Dating as far back as the 1800’s, the carnival routes stem from what was originally the ‘Ye Old Marine Regatta’. In 1927, the carnival was added to the regatta, led by father Neptune and his trusty entourage. Now in its 75th year and bigger and better than ever, the carnival is a wonderful legacy of what the regatta once was.
Celebrating English tradition, Aldeburgh Carnival offers not only its original carnival procession but also Punch and Judy shows, fireworks, a 10k run, a variety of games and races and an impressive selection of local food and drinks. Be sure not to miss the very exciting RNLI and HM Coastguard air and sea rescue displays. Military and samba bands will be treating carnival goers with live music and children's rides will be sure to keep all ages entertained. Once the sun has set on the final evening, the charming lantern procession will bring a delightful close to the three days. Suffolk Secrets will not only be sponsoring the procession, but you’ll find us rattling our buckets collecting donations for future carnivals to come. Suffolk Secrets offer a collection of beautiful self-catering holiday cottages in Aldeburgh and its surrounding areas. Whether visiting just for the carnival or for longer, our cottages offer holidays starting from the Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th of August and will be sure to treat you with a more than comfortable stay.
