Waveney and North Suffolk

Our Waveney Valley cottages and holiday homes near The Broads offer a beautiful self-catering holiday destination on the county border between Suffolk and Norfolk. A real Suffolk secret; this area boasts some great beach holiday destinations along the aptly named ‘sunrise coast’ along with a variety of beautiful towns and villages dotted with our self catering country cottages!

Beccles, an old river port turned market town, lies on the banks of the Waveney and has an eclectic mix of boutiques and antique shops along with a popular boating centre, offering visitors the opportunity to take a boat on the Broads, Britain’s magical waterland. Nearby our Bungay offers many specialist shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés and many seasonal markets. Even an everyday routine like shopping for food becomes something special when it’s done in surroundings such as these!

Nearby Earsham is on the doorstep of The Otter Trust – one of the largest and oldest otter conservation organisations in the world. Its three lakes are home to a huge selection of wild and native waterfowl and the land surrounding them is full of muntjac and fallow deer – a great destination for cottage holidays in nature and wildlife-watching.

Whether temperatures are soaring or bracing winds are blowing, there’s something special about a self catering break on the seaside, and there’s no doubt that our cottages on the Waveney coast enjoy beaches which easily equal those better-known along the North Norfolk and Suffolk Heritage Coasts.

Lowestoft – the most easterly point in Britain – is great for a seaside break. Its fantastic beaches either side of the Claremont Pier are regularly recognised internationally for their excellence and enjoyed by families every summer. Lowestoft town offers a mixture of traditional and contemporary entertainment along with a variety of shops and eateries. While you’re here why not visit the Marina Theatre – a favourite venue for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – or the Heritage Quay and Maritime Museum. Alternatively, Pleasurewood Hills is nearby – great for an adrenaline-pumping day out!

Head south to our Kessingland holiday cottages and you reach Suffolk’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is fronted by a stunning beach which is unspoilt and stretches for miles – this really is the place to get away from it all! A haven for all wildlife and conservation enthusiasts, our Kessingland cottages are surrounded by many walking and cycle routes through the tranquil countryside and grants easy access to the Suffolk Coast and Heaths region – perfect for a walking holiday in Suffolk. But for a taste of the more exotic plan a day at Africa Alive, a popular safari experience just off the southern edge of the village!
