Snape Maltings

Snape Maltings

From Southwold head down the A12 or alternatively take the more scenic B roads through the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to our Snape holiday cottages. Here you can find the Snape Maltings on the River Alde, a delightful collection of shops, galleries and eateries, and home to the famous Maltings Concert Hall where Benjamin Britten's Aldeburgh Music Festival, founded in 1948, takes place in June. On the coast visitors can also enjoy contemporary galleries, chic boutiques and tasty eateries from our Aldeburgh cottages and visit the unique seaside village of Thorpeness, a private resort developed by Scotsman Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie in 1910, complete with quirky mock Tudor architecture and a country club, golf club and boating lake!

Constable Country

Constable Country

Continuing to explore the art and countryside of Suffolk, head out of Ipswich on the A12 and you come to 'Constable Country' and the Stour Valley on the border with Essex. Stratford St Mary and Flatford are set near the beautiful romantic settings of some of John Constable's finest and most famous works. Turning off to East Bergholt and heading down to the River Stour you can find Flatford Bridge Cottage, the 16th building that Constable often painted, as well as the nearby Flatford Mill. The cottage itself contains an exhibition of Constable's works, a tea room and gift shop. Another mile on the A12 and you will find Stratford St Mary just before crossing the Stour. The village has a fascinating number of rustic buildings and historic manors including Constable's much-loved The Old Stratford Mill, dating from 1600.

Ipswich Marina

Ipswich Marina

From the A12 you can get to the southern tip of the beautiful Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here our Woodbridge holiday homes are set in an area full of character and history - offering access to the sparsely populated area of the coast between Aldeburgh and Felixstowe.

Only a few miles away is Ipswich, the capital of Suffolk, and the lovely rejuvenated water front and Ipswich Marina is certainly worth a visit. Here converted Flour Mills and Maltings, along with the untouched Old Customs House, complement trendy new architecture, cosmopolitan restaurants and shops, all overlooking a myriad of yachts - perhaps take a cruise down the River Orwell before a delightful evening meal?
