An area I very much enjoy visiting with family and friends is the pretty village of Snape. We frequently spend a leisurely morning at Snape Maltings, which is well known for its Concert Hall, the venue of the Aldeburgh Festival. We love browsing around the shops and once a month there is a Farmers Market. You can find out more about Snape Maltings on their website here.
There is a footpath leading from Snape Church through to the attractive, mostly Georgian town of Aldeburgh. The path runs alongside the River Alde and I love wrapping up warm on a cold winters day to enjoy a brisk walk. We usually finish up in The Granary Teashop at Snape Maltings, with a steaming mug of coffee, or lunch in one of the three local pubs in the area. Riverboat trips are available and are popular with nature lovers and birdwatchers.
A short drive from Snape is Framlingham. The castle is well worth a visit and yes, I enjoy the shops in the attractive town too!
Iken can be found a short distance along the estuary from Snape. It is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are magnificent views from St. Butolph’s Church across to Snape. A peaceful and stunning location – the very best of a most beautiful county.
