Eye Castle
Description:
A Norman motte-and-bailey with medieval walls and a Victorian folly.
The castle has always had close associations with royalty since the Norman Conquest in 1066 and was probably used as a defensive site for many centuries before that. Now, rather than dominating the surrounding area with military might, the castle offers a tranquil setting for restoring them. Located in the centre of the market town of Eye.
