Southwold Central - The properties located in central Southwold are all within minutes of the market place, with the elegant Swan Hotel, an excellent range of small shops including a greengrocers with fresh local produce, family butcher and delicatessen. The upper promenade is ideal for a peaceful stroll at any time of the year and provides quick access to the beach and of course, the lighthouse in the town is a good landmark. There is also easy access to the common and a nearby footpath takes you down to the harbour with the foot ferry to Walberswick (summer only). Don't forget that the beach is never very far away!

Barton Cottage has been meticulously maintained by the owners who have successfully blended all modern conveniences with the property's old world charm.  It was built in the 17th century by French Hugenots fleeing France in the 1690's from religious persecution.  The first floor elm boards are original as are some of the beams which would have been recycled from old boats which was common practice at that time.  It is ideally situated in the historical centre only 100 yds from the beach, shops and restaurants.  It provides a wonderful retreat all year round, and has the benefit of an enclosed, sunny courtyard garden. As the property is pristine and has low ceilings and steep winding stairs it is unsuitable for babies and children under 12 years.   Shop: 100 yds Pub: 100 yds
