Tucked away in the picturesque Suffolk village of Friston, this cosy countryside cottage is ideal for couples and small families. Scenic walking trails lead from the doorstep in every direction and when you return from your adventures, you can put your feet up and relax in one of the spacious living areas inside or soak up the last of the sunshine in the flower-filled garden.

Up one step, this cottage is classically styled and welcoming. The lounge is a wonderful space to unwind, with comfortable seating surrounding an electric fire and a TV. The kitchen features a two-seater table for leisurely meals, and you’ll find everything you could need to self-cater during your stay. For a larger space to dine, the light-filled conservatory has a table for four, with beautiful views over the garden. Conveniently, there’s also a small cloakroom on the ground floor with a WC. On the first floor, you'll find a king-size and a single bedroom, plus a family bathroom with a sloping ceiling. And on warm days, nothing beats lounging in the garden or dining alfresco on the patio.

Around 2 miles from the cottage, you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the meandering River Alde. The award-winning bird reserve at Minsmere is just 7.5 miles away, the perfect place for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. If you fancy a day at the seaside, wander the streets of Aldeburgh (4 miles) and shop for freshly caught fish beside its pebbled beach. The cottage was spacious and cosy, with plenty of hot water, and had super comfy beds and pillows. The conservatory was bright and warm and a lovely place to have breakfast. The private parking space was close. As for the situation, Friston and the village pub are delightful. The walk to the wonderful 13th century church was through a field of Read morepoppies! An evening stroll to the Old Windmill was a must! We also took in Snape, Framlingham, Aldeburgh, Minsmere and more ... we had a great week in Suffolk. Hide

The food from the Chequers was good, the property is quiet with excellent access to Saxmundham, Wonderful beach walks at Dunwich, not so good for Aldeburgh because of the steep shingle banks, household shopping excellent at the East of England Coop situated on the approach to Aldeburgh.

This property is obviously given a superficial clean between guests but isn't cleaned properly. We found dark hair on the mattress cover when stripping the double bed , the oven was greasy and as was the oven pan . This is the 4th cottage my friend and I have rented since losing our husbands and by far the least clean .

Only problems shower I felt was dangerous as water is scalding hot and shower cannot be thermostatically controlled so varied and could suddenly change. At this time of year could not eat in conservatory and the tiny desks in kitchen were not comfortable

We had a great weeks holiday in an area of the country we had not spent time in before, found it very nice and the cottage suited us just fine I think whatever time of year you went there it would be great. We will return and maybe to the same cottage as it was never far from place's of interest. Many thanks.
