Set within 6 acres of private grounds on the Essex/Suffolk border, this wooden lodge offers a luxurious escape to the country. One of a handful of self-catering properties at Toppesfield Hall, this dog-friendly lodge welcomes couples or solo travellers who love to be immersed in nature. With historic sites, quaint villages and idyllic landscapes all around, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. But with a private outdoor hot tub, a BBQ, a fire pit and lounge chairs for soaking up the afternoon sun, it provides the perfect base to rest and recharge.
Set within a private, enclosed garden a short walk (150 metres) from the parking area, this lodge has been thoughtfully designed to offer everything you need for your woodland adventure. Laid out in an open-plan, studio-style design, the interior is light and bright with a neutral colour scheme and lots of homely touches. A streamlined kitchenette sits along one wall with all the necessities for preparing meals, complemented by a fold-out table for indoor feasts. The living area features a sofa, which can be converted into a second double bed, facing double patio doors that open to the garden. At the other end of the cabin, there’s a double bed and storage space, which can be separated by a privacy curtain. A sleek shower room completes the interior. Outside, you can dine alfresco on the picnic table, bubble beneath the stars, or spend your evenings toasting marshmallows and watching the night sky.
The grounds include a paddock for exercising your pups, a superb games room with a variety of games and activities, a woodland area and a shared tennis court. Stroll to the village of Toppesfield (0.5 miles) where you’ll find a village shop, a pub, a park and a brewery. Toppesfield and Tuffon Hall Vineyards (within 4 miles) offer an insight into Suffolk wines, while history lovers will be drawn to Hedingham Castle (4 miles) and the Norman castle in Colchester (23.5 miles).
