A delightful, contemporary barn in the village of Trimley St Martin, this is a perfect rural hideaway for two. The detached property is set in the owner’s beautiful garden and is wonderfully light and airy, with a stylish yet cosy interior. A pretty decked terrace overlooks the peaceful garden and has sunset views across the countryside. There are wonderful walks along the nearby River Orwell, and the charming, Edwardian seaside resort of Felixstowe is within 3.5 miles.

Your beautifully furnished holiday home has a spacious, open-plan living space, with separate areas for the all-white kitchen, dining table and comfortable sofa. Skylights and windows fill the interior with light, enhancing the pale wooden flooring and neutral decor. Light the cosy wood burner, watch the Smart TV or plan tomorrow’s adventure. There is also an inviting snug with a sofa, ideal for a quiet read. The luxurious bedroom has a plush king-size bed, beneath a vaulted ceiling, and an en-suite shower. Outside, the sheltered terrace has patio furniture, a BBQ and a rocking chair, from where you may glimpse deer in the fields beyond the garden.

Peaceful riverside walks along the Orwell are within 0.5 miles and Trimley Marshes Nature Reserve (5 miles) is a must-see for bird and wildlife enthusiasts. Dip your feet in the briny on Felixstowe’s 4-mile stretch of sand and shingle beach or enjoy an ice cream as you stroll along the promenade, lined with colourful beach huts. For family fun, compete to get a hole-in-one at Felixstowe Adventure Golf (5 miles), set in a series of themed gardens on the seafront. Fish and chip suppers on the beach are part of the fun. Enjoy more wonderful waterside walks and visit a historic tidal mill in charming Woodbridge (10 miles), on the banks of the River Deben.

We have not booked a holiday cottage for a November stay before, so it was wonderful, on arrival, to find warm, comfortable rooms and a very welcome basket of goodies.
