Much of the town of Felixstowe is only about 100 years old but Old Felixstowe has been in existence since Roman times. The town stands at the mouth of the rivers Deben and Orwell where you can enjoy fishing and sailing. There is a shingle and sand beach, a two-mile long promenade and seafront gardens as well as a theatre and amusements. There are a number of Martello towers along this stretch of coastline, built to resist a potential invasion by Napoleon, and the whole area has many historic houses and monuments to visit.
