Shotley forms the pinnacle of the Peninsula where the rivers Orwell and Stour meet.  The surrounding area is well known for bird watching, particularly wading birds.  This makes it a perfect spot for all nature and wildlife lovers.  Constable Country is within easy driving distance as is Suffolk's wonderful Heritage coast.  Other nearby attractions include Jimmy's Farm, a dry ski-slope and plenty of opportunity to sail at Alton Reservoir.
