Suffolk Secrets is based in the
Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), one
of 41 AONBs in England and Wales and a landscape given special protection
in recognition of its distinctiveness and quality. Together with our Heritage
Coasts and National Parks, AONBs make up some of the finest countryside
in Britain.
The Suffolk Coast and Heaths
includes the northern side of the Stour estuary, skirts the east of Ipswich
and extends northwards as far as Kessingland. It covers approximately
150 square miles, most between the A12 trunk road and the sea, and includes
the Suffolk Heritage Coast. It's a landscape of astonishing beauty and
variety; a mosaic of heathland, marsh, woodland and farmland; shimmering
estuaries and crumbling golden cliffs. It includes some of the finest
nature reserves to be found in southern England and supports an incredible
variety of wildlife, much of it of national and international importance.
Whether your interests lie in walking, sailing, birdwatching or just relaxing,
the Suffolk Coast and Heaths is a wonderful place to visit and enjoy.
Local businesses are part of the
Partnership of organisations that work together to care for the AONB.
To further this work our Connect scheme was set up to raise money for
conservation projects, and Suffolk Secrets were founder members. The contribution
made since by Suffolk Secrets customers has been incredible and over £12,000
has now been raised for conservation - an outstanding achievement. I hope
you will want to help the conservation of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths
by making a donation to Connect and, on behalf of the Partnership, I want
to say a sincere "thank you" for the money you've donated so far.
